Cape Verde is not one single destination: every island has its own landscapes, pace, opportunities and property market.
Sal is the easiest island for a first holiday: international airport, pale beaches, resorts, restaurants, kitesurfing and a strong concentration of services around Santa Maria. It suits travellers who want beach life and simple logistics. For living or buying property, check seasonality, wind, tourist-area costs and property management carefully.
Boa Vista is the island of wide beaches, dunes and open space. Sal Rei is the main centre; Chaves, Santa Monica and Varandinha are names often associated with sea and sand. It is interesting for beach tourism and property near the coast, but services, access, maintenance and management outside resort areas matter.
Santiago is the most populated island and hosts Praia, the country's administrative and economic capital. It offers services, schools, hospitals, offices, businesses and a more structured local life than purely beach-oriented islands.
São Vicente revolves around Mindelo, a port city known for culture and music. It is a strong option for urban life, restaurants, events, harbour activity and ferry connections to Santo Antão.
Santo Antão is the island of mountains, walking trails and valleys. It is usually reached by ferry from São Vicente and suits travellers looking for trekking, nature, small hospitality and slow tourism rather than resort beaches.
Fogo is dominated by its volcano and has a strong identity, very different from Sal and Boa Vista. Maio is quieter and sandy, while Brava is small, green and remote. These islands require more careful planning for residential or property projects.
